Leeds United eyeing 2026 move for Piotr Zielinski

Leeds United will reportedly look to sign 31-year-old Polish international Piotr Zielinski from Serie A club Inter Milan next year.

According to a report by Italian outlet AS Roma Live, Piotr Zielinski is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a versatile midfielder next year. So, the 31-year-old Inter Milan midfielder has emerged as a target for the newly promoted Premier League club.

The 2024/25 EFL Championship winners are ready to launch a bid to sign the Zabkowice Slaskie native next year, with former AS Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini also on their wishlist. Signing one of the two Serie A-based players will enable Leeds United to satisfy Daniel Farke’s wish to land an attacking midfielder.

Piotr Zielinski and his situation

Piotr Zielinski has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Inter Milan in a Bosman move last year after leaving Napoli as a free agent. The 31-year-old had extensive experience in Serie A after representing Udinese, Empoli, and Napoli, making him an appealing signing for the Nerazzurri. However, the Pole has struggled to become a regular at San Siro.

The struggles have grown in the early days of the 2025/26 season, as Zielinski has managed only 54 minutes of game time across four appearances thus far. However, the Polish midfielder’s situation at Inter Milan has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs. Premier League clubs, in particular, are keen on signing him, with Leeds United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.

Premier League adventure beckons?

Leeds United’s interest in Piotr Zielinski is understandable. While the Whites considerably bolstered their midfield unit by signing Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff in the summer transfer window, Daniel Farke wants an attacking midfielder who can link the midfield with the attack.

So, Zielinski has emerged as a viable target, and Leeds United will hope that convincing the Inter Milan midfielder to move to the Premier League may not be a tall order due to his situation at the Serie A club. Meanwhile, the 31-year-old Pole can be a solid short-term solution for Leeds United in the middle of the park.

However, Zielinski is not the only attacking midfielder on Leeds United’s wishlist, as they are also mulling over signing Lorenzo Pellegrini from AS Roma. So, it will be interesting to see which of the two Serie A-based midfielders arrives at Elland Road in the coming months.
