Liverpool prioritising contract renewal for Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch over Andrew Robertson

Liverpool are reportedly looking to agree a new deal with Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch in the coming weeks instead of chasing a renewal for Andrew Robertson.

As per a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Liverpool will prioritise the contract renewals of Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch over Andrew Robertson. The Scottish international defender was initially expected to leave Liverpool during the summer, but he ended up staying at the club.

There is now talk of a new deal for the defender. However, Liverpool are looking to sort out the futures of Jones and Gravenberch first. Gravenberch has been outstanding for Liverpool since joining the club, and this season, he has taken his game to another level.

The 23-year-old is undoubtedly one of the best midfielders in the league right now, and Liverpool must do everything in their power to keep him at the club for as long as possible. There has been speculation about his future at the club.

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing the Netherlands international. Liverpool simply cannot afford to lose a talented young player like him. It will be interesting to see if they can finalise the new deal with him quickly.

Liverpool need to keep Jones

Similarly, Curtis Jones has been a very useful player for Liverpool. His ability to slot into multiple roles and help out the team makes him an asset for the club. Liverpool need players like the Englishman in their squad if they want to do well across multiple competitions. It is no surprise that they want to extend his stay at the club.

It remains to be seen whether all parties can finalise an agreement quickly. The boyhood Liverpudlian will want to commit his future to the club as well. The homegrown midfielder has no reason to leave them, and he will be hoping to finalise an agreement with the Premier League champions quickly.

If Liverpool manage to keep the two players at the club for the long-term, it would be a boost for them. Meanwhile, Robertson is likely to be handed a short extension as well. Despite being linked with an exit, he is an asset for the club. Apart from the Scot’s footballing quality, his leadership skills and winning experience will be invaluable for the Liverpool dressing room.
