Leeds United have identified two priority target areas ahead of the January window, as they seek a winger and an attacking midfielder.
According to Football Insider, Leeds United are prioritising a new winger and an attacking midfielder during the January transfer window. The West Yorkshire side have identified two priority target areas for the winter market, with some targets already on their radar based on their misses during the summer.
Leeds United have made a good start to their season, and at least for the time being, they have managed to steer clear of any relegation talk. However, the recent history with newly promoted sides will not fill their fans with confidence, as the Premier League have seen each of the three promoted sides in the last two seasons going straight back down to the Championship.
Not only Leeds United, but also Burnley and Sunderland have performed admirably, as the current bottom-three consists of established Premier League regulars. Credit to those teams for addressing squad issues during the summer, as each of those newly-promoted sides did well to strengthen.
As for Leeds United, they have now identified two priority target areas ahead of January, as Daniel Farke’s side wants a new winger and an attacking midfielder. Those areas are seen as crucial to have a better chance of survival, as the season could get spicy.
Leeds United feel, those attacking signings would help them in a big way in staying alive in the Premier League. They had plans to sign for those two priority target areas back in the summer, but failed to get deals done, as the big example would be Fulham blocking a late move for Harry Wilson, who was open to the move to Leeds United.
Leeds to revisit summer targets in January?
Wilson was a big target in the latter stages of the summer, and Leeds United retain an interest ahead of January. The Welsh winger is into the final year of his deal, and should his situation remain unchanged, Leeds United could ponder a cut-price winter window deal.
Aston Villa blocked a late exit for Emiliano Buendia when Leeds United had an interest in the Argentine attacking midfielder. Once again, he could be a target they could revisit, as their experience in the Premier League could prove crucial, while their availability on a relatively low cost in January could make them quality additions for Farke’s side.
