Arsenal will unlikely continue pursuing 20-year-old Real Madrid playmaker Arda Guler next year after chasing him in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Arda Guler is no longer the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners were keen on signing the highly-rated Real Madrid playmaker in the summer transfer window. However, with the 20-year-old becoming a “key man” under Xabi Alonso, Arsenal’s move has collapsed.
Arda Guler and his Real Madrid journey so far
Arda Guler has endured a stop-start stint since joining Real Madrid from Fenerbahce in July 2023. The Turk was among the most sought-after prodigies in the world when he arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu, and Los Blancos beat several high-profile clubs to secure his services over two years ago.
However, fitness issues plagued the 20-year-old in the early stages of his spell with Real Madrid, and he struggled for regular game time under Carlo Ancelotti. That has changed since Xabi Alonso took over at Real Madrid, with the Spanish tactician making Guler a first-choice starter.
The Turkish international has amassed over 500 minutes of game time across seven appearances thus far for Real Madrid in the 2025/26 season while chipping in with two goals and two assists. That has compelled Arsenal to walk away from a possible move for Guler, having previously chased him in recent transfer windows.
Arsenal not interested anymore
Arda Guler has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time. The North London outfit also mulled over a move for the Real Madrid playmaker before he moved to the Santiago Bernabeu from Fenerbahce. That interest did not wane in the last two years, and Arsenal considered a deal in the summer transfer window.
However, the Gunners have reinforced their offensive unit considerably in the last few months, with Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, and Noni Madueke arriving at the Emirates in the summer transfer window. So, it is hardly surprising that Guler is no longer a target for Arsenal, and the 20-year-old Turk may not be distressed about that.
As for Arsenal, the Gunners now have a well-rounded squad, and they do not need any new signings unless they part ways with a few players next year. Meanwhile, Guler will hope to continue his progress at Real Madrid under Xabi Alonso.
