Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham United are all interested in bringing Ruben Loftus-Cheek back to the Premier League.
According to a report from CaughtOffside, Ruben Loftus-Cheek could secure a return to the English top flight in the winter transfer window as Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and West Ham United are all keen on his signature. Given his consistent performances in Serie A, all three clubs are keen on bringing the former Chelsea star back to England.
Loftus-Cheek came up the ranks at Chelsea. He got promoted to the first team back in 2015. While he was a part of their setup till 2023, the 29-year-old failed to establish himself as a key figure in the team and even had multiple loan spells away from the club.
He eventually left the club to join AC Milan in search of a more prominent role. The move to the Italian giants has certainly worked out in his favour as he has been one of their standout performers. He has been involved in 73 matches and has contributed towards 14 goals.
While he had an exceptional debut campaign, injuries troubled him last season, and his future was a big talking point in the summer. However, the arrival of Massimiliano Allegri played a big part in him staying at the club.
Under the previous manager, he was tipped to leave the club with English clubs keen on signing him. However, a tactical shift under Allegri meant he could have a chance to rejuvenate his career. So far, he has been a key figure under the new boss. However, the next few months will have a big say on his future.
Loftus-Cheek could return to England in January
With multiple English clubs keen on signing him in January, Milan could sanction his departure if he doesn’t have a prominent role under Allegri. They could either look to hand him a new deal at the turn of the calendar or cash in on him with Aston Villa, Newcastle and West Ham waiting in the wings.
All three clubs are closely monitoring his situation. West Ham and Villa are believed to be serious suitors of the 29-year-old. They are considering making a concrete approach when the transfer window reopens. They feel his experience and versatility could make him a valuable addition to their squad.
Meanwhile, Newcastle also seek more quality in midfield and are keeping tabs on him. However, they haven’t firmed up their interest just yet, and it might depend on the performance of Eddie Howe’s team until the end of the year.
