West Ham United are set to compete with three other European clubs for Anderlecht striker Mario Stroeykens in future windows.
According to Ekrem Konur, Anderlecht attacker Mario Stroeykens is emerging to be a target for West Ham United. The East London outfit are in a race for the Belgian attacker with three other European sides, with the attacker not interested in a move to Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career amid the links with Al-Hilal.
Mario Stroeykens could be the next promising talent coming out of Belgium, following his consistent displays with Anderlecht. The Belgian giants rate their striker at €20 million and could be open to a sale, with a host of clubs angling for a move.
West Ham United were interested earlier in the summer, but they might have preferred to chase other targets that would improve their attack. Names like Victor Boniface were mentioned, and considering the levels of the two players, the Nigerian striker is far more accomplished in his career, meaning the Hammers would have preferred him over the €20 million-rated Belgian attacker.
Aleksandar Mitrovic rejected a move to West Ham, among others, to make his switch to Qatar side Al-Rayyan, as the Hammers were intent on landing a new frontman. They did sign Callum Wilson on a free transfer, and alongside Niclas Fullkrug, the pair is clearly at the wrong side of their career.
Hence, the interest in the €20 million-rated Belgian attacker Stroeykens makes sense for the Hammers about their long-term future. West Ham are now part of a four-way battle for the Anderlecht star, who could move along in the next window, especially for the price quoted.
Mario Stroeykens is keen on a European stay
Ekrem Konur insisted that Al-Hilal were keen on signing the €20 million-rated Belgian attacker, but Stroeykens prefers to stay put in Europe. He is uninterested in making the move to the Saudi Pro League at this stage of his career, which boosts the chances of the four clubs, including West Ham, who are chasing him.
West Ham must battle Eintracht Frankfurt, Marseille and AC Milan for the signature of Stroeykens in the future, as they could give him a chance in the Premier League. For now, Anderlecht will not stand in his way ahead of the winter transfer window, with the Hammers in with a chance to sign him then.
