Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce are reportedly on the verge of cooling their interest in 29-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma.
According to a report by Turkish outlet Takvim, Yves Bissoua has been the subject of interest from Fenerbahce. The Turkish giants have been keen on signing a holding midfielder before the summer transfer window shuts down. So, the 28-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been a top target for them.
While the African midfielder secured an agreement on personal terms with Fenerbahce, his medical tests did not produce the desired results. So, after coming close to signing Bissouma from Tottenham Hotspur, the Yellow Canaries are on the verge of calling off the move.
Yves Bissouma and his Tottenham troubles
Yves Bissouma has gone from being one of the best midfielders in the Premier League to a bit-part player since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal worth £25 million in July 2022. While the 28-year-old midfielder has shown flashes of brilliance during his stint with the North London club, he has rubbed Thomas Frank the wrong way due to bouts of indiscipline early in the 2025/26 season.
The Malian international has made 100 appearances thus far for Tottenham while chipping in with one goal. However, Bissouma has no future at the North London club, and the situation has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs. Widespread reports have linked the player with Fenerbahce in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Turkish adventure on the horizon
Fenerbahce’s interest in Yves Bissouma has been understandable. The Turkish Super Lig giants have been scouring the market for a midfielder in the summer transfer window, as Fred is on the wrong side of 30. So, Bissouma has emerged as a viable target, with recent reports claiming the two parties struck an agreement on personal terms.
However, the latest update has revealed that Bissouma is on the cusp of losing the opportunity to join Fenerbahce, as he has not proven his fitness during his medical checks with the Turkish club. That has compelled the Yellow Canaries to mull over calling off a late move.
However, Tottenham will aim to offload the 29-year-old Malian international before the summer transfer window shuts down. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Bissouma after the failed Fenerbahce move.
