Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace are pushing to sign AC Milan centre-back Strahinja Pavlovic, but so far without success.
Crystal Palace are working hard to reinforce their backline amidst uncertainty around Marc Guehi’s future. According to a report from Sky Sports, the Eagles are keen on acquiring the services of AC Milan star Strahinja Pavlovic.
Strahinja Pavlovic’s sensational rise in recent seasons
The Serbian international made a name for himself while playing for Red Bull Salzburg. On the back of his consistent performances, Milan signed the 24-year-old last summer.
In his debut season at the Italian club, Strahinja Pavlovic was involved in a total of 35 matches across competitions and even contributed towards four goals. The Serb had quite an impact on Milan’s performances, and his work hasn’t gone unnoticed.
While he still has three years left on his deal with the Serie A giants, multiple clubs are interested in prising him away. Crystal Palace are one of the clubs that are keen on his signature. The Eagles are looking at multiple defensive options to bolster their backline on deadline day.
Glasner is keen on signing Pavlovic
With Marc Guehi’s future up in the air, Glasner has been eager to be prepared for a situation where he ends up leaving them. With the English international set to join Liverpool, the Eagles could sign multiple central defenders.
Strahinja Pavlovic is one of the names on Crystal Palace’s wishlist. His impressive performances for Milan have put him on their radar, with Oliver Glasner pushing the club to sign the Serbian international. The Premier League side were also keen on the 24-year-old during the winter window, when they made an approach, but AC Milan refused to negotiate his sale.
While Pavlovic would represent a great long-term acquisition for the Eagles, the Italian giants remain firm in their stance on his future. Crystal Palace have continued to hold talks with the Serie A outfit but have made little progress. With only a few hours left in the transfer window, a deal now looks unlikely.
