Aston Villa and Manchester United are reportedly in talks to seal a move for 25-year-old English international Jadon Sancho in the final hours of the summer transfer window.
According to an update by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Jadon Sancho is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile playmaker in the final hours of the summer transfer window. So, the 25-year-old Manchester United flop has emerged as a target for the West Midlands outfit.
Aston Villa and Manchester United have begun the negotiations over a deadline-day deal for the Englishman, with the Red Devils desperate to get him off their books. The Villans are working to secure an agreement in the final hours of the summer transfer window, but Sancho’s decision is crucial for the move to materialise.
Jadon Sancho and his toxic attitude
Jadon Sancho continues to frustrate Manchester United despite not playing for the club for nearly two years. The 25-year-old last appeared on the pitch for the Red Devils in the early days of the 2023/24 season, and he has embarked on loan spells with Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea since then.
The English international showed flashes of brilliance during his loan spell with Chelsea before a permanent deal failed to materialise this summer. Sancho managed only five goals and ten assists in 41 appearances across all competitions, and he has returned to Manchester United. However, his stock in the market remains high, with Aston Villa among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Will Aston Villa sign Sancho?
Aston Villa’s interest in Jadon Sancho is understandable. The Villans are desperate to bolster their offensive unit before the summer transfer window. Unai Emery wants a versatile playmaker in the coming hours to fill the void that Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio left when their loan spells ended.
While Aston Villa wanted to re-sign Asensio and discussed a deal for several weeks, the Paris Saint-Germain outcast is on the verge of joining Fenerbahce. So, Sancho has emerged as a viable alternative, with Aston Villa and Manchester United negotiating a deadline-day move for the 25-year-old Englishman.
However, a deal will depend on Sancho’s potential inclination towards joining Aston Villa. If he declines a move to Villa Park, Turkish and Saudi Pro League outfits will remain the only viable options for the English international, with Manchester United desperate to offload him.
