Juventus will reportedly look to sign 27-year-old Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui from Manchester United in the final hours of the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Noussair Mazraoui is the subject of interest from Juventus. The Serie A giants are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a new right-back before the summer transfer window shuts down. So, the 27-year-old Manchester United utility man has emerged as a target for the Bianconeri.
The Italian club’s interest has stemmed from Nico Gonzalez’s desire to depart from the Allianz Stadium. The Argentine international does not want to play as a right wing-back and is eager to join Atletico Madrid before Monday’s transfer deadline. So, Juventus may turn to Mazraoui over a last-gasp summer move.
Noussair Mazraoui and his impact at Manchester United
Noussair Mazraoui has been an asset for Manchester United since arriving from Bayern Munich in a deal worth €15 million last summer. While the Red Devils have endured a nightmare 12 months during his spell at Old Trafford, the 27-year-old has been one of the rare standout performers for the struggling Premier League giants.
The Moroccan international has made over 50 appearances thus far for Manchester United while chipping in with three assists. Mazraoui’s ability to play as a centre-back, a right-back, and a right wing-back has made him a utility man for Manchester United. However, his progress has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs, with Juventus among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the final hours of the summer transfer window.
Serie A move on the horizon?
Juventus’s interest in Noussair Mazraoui is understandable. The Serie A giants are scouring the market for a right-back in the final days of the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Nico Gonzalez’s long-term future. The Argentine international does not want to play as a right wing-back in Igor Tudor’s system.
Additionally, Gonzalez is keen on joining Atletico Madrid. So, with Nicolo Savona joining Nottingham Forest, Juventus must sign a right-back before the summer transfer window shuts down. Mazraoui has thus emerged as a viable target for the Bianconeri.
However, convincing Manchester United to sanction a late departure will be a tall order, considering the 27-year-old Moroccan international’s stature at Old Trafford. However, the Serie A giants have other options on their wishlist, with Arnau Martinez also a target.
