Marco Asensio agreed three-year contract with Aston Villa

Paris Saint-Germain outcast Marco Asensio has reportedly agreed to sign a three-year contract with Aston Villa ahead of a possible move in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Marco Asensio is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans are eager to bolster their offensive unit by signing another versatile attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 29-year-old Paris Saint-Germain outcast has emerged as a target for the West Midlands outfit.

The Villans have intensified their efforts to re-sign the Spaniard by striking an agreement on a three-year contract. The confidence is now rising in the Aston Villa camp as they continue their talks with PSG over a possible move in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Marco Asensio: Waiting for his next move

Marco Asensio has reached a crossroads in his career for the second time in three years. The 29-year-old completed a Bosman move to Paris Saint-Germain in July 2023 after leaving Real Madrid as a free agent. However, the multi-time UEFA Champions League winner has failed to make his mark at PSG, leaving him in a spot of bother.

The Spanish international revived his fortunes with an excellent loan spell with Aston Villa in the second half of the 2024/25 season. Asensio chipped in with eight goals and one assist in only 1,119 minutes of game time for the Villans. However, while he has yet to return to Villa Park, the Villans are pushing hard to re-sign him in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Can Aston Villa re-sign Asensio?

Aston Villa’s interest in re-signing Marco Asensio is understandable. The Villans are combing the market for a versatile attacker in the final days of the summer transfer window despite signing Evann Guessand. With Unai Emery demanding more firepower in the final third, Aston Villa will aim to add another productive forward to the offensive department.

While La Liga and Turkish Super Lig clubs have been keen on signing Asensio, a move has not transpired yet. So, a return to Aston Villa is on the cards, and the two parties have finalised an agreement on a three-year contract. The Villans are now intensifying their efforts to re-sign the 29-year-old Spaniard by ramping up the talks with PSG.

With Aston Villa a step closer to re-signing Asensio after the agreement on personal terms, a late deal may be on the cards. It will be interesting to see if the Spanish international returns to Villa Park before Monday’s summer transfer deadline.
