Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly mulling over a deadline-day summer move for 21-year-old Leicester City playmaker Bilal El Khannouss.
According to a report by Give Me Sport, Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on signing Bilal El Khannouss. The two London clubs are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile playmaker in the summer transfer window. So, the 21-year-old Leicester City prospect is still a target for the Premier League outfits.
Crystal Palace and Tottenham are considering a last-ditch move for the young playmaker. While the former recently called off a summer move for El Khannouss, they “have moved into a position” to secure his services. On the other hand, Tottenham will pursue the player’s signature if they fail to land other targets.
Bilal El Khannouss and his time at Leicester City so far
Bilal El Khannouss has become a household name since joining Leicester City from KRC Genk last summer after being impressive in a dreadful campaign for the Midlands outfit. While the 21-year-old has not been as productive as he would have liked, he has made considerable progress at the King Power Stadium. The youngster has also started the new campaign well, chipping in with two assists in as many EFL Championship outings.
The Moroccan international has made nearly 50 appearances thus far for Leicester City while chipping in with three goals and seven assists. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several Premier League clubs, with Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the final days of the summer transfer window.
London calling?
Crystal Palace’s interest in Bilal El Khannouss makes sense. The Eagles are scouring the market for a versatile attacker this summer after parting ways with Eberechi Eze, who has joined Arsenal. The English playmaker’s departure has left a gaping hole in the offensive unit at Crystal Palace, with El Khannouss emerging as a viable target.
As for Tottenham, recent reports have claimed that the Lilywhites are ready to outbid Crystal Palace in the battle for the Leicester City attacker’s signature. The 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners are mulling over an eleventh-hour move for El Khannouss, but a deal will depend on whether they can sign their top targets.
So, a summer move to Tottenham may not be on the cards, as Xavi Simons is on the verge of joining the North London club from RB Leipzig. Crystal Palace may thus have a clear run at the 21-year-old Moroccan international, although Leicester City will aim to push him towards a Saudi Pro League club.
