West Ham United will not entertain bids to part ways with 30-year-old Czech midfielder Tomas Soucek in the summer transfer window after rejecting an enquiry from Everton.
According to an update by the reliable Ben Jacobs, Tomas Soucek is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a versatile and productive midfielder in the final days of the summer transfer window. So, the 30-year-old West Ham United veteran has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.
David Moyes is keen on reuniting with a player who was a go-to charge for him at West Ham United. However, the Everton manager’s wish will unlikely come true after West Ham turned down an approach from the Merseyside club. The Hammers are unwilling to part ways with the Havlickuv Brod native in the summer transfer window.
Tomas Soucek and his West Ham United journey so far
Tomas Soucek has established himself as one of the most dependable midfielders in the Premier League since joining West Ham United in a deal worth €21 million from Slavia Praha. The East London club initially signed the 30-year-old on loan in January 2020 before completing a permanent move in the subsequent summer transfer window.
The Czechia international has made his mark for West Ham United due to his ability to chip in with strikes in the final third. Soucek has contributed to 54 goals in nearly 250 outings thus far for West Ham, finding the back of the net 41 times and providing 13 assists. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Everton among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Everton’s interest in Tomas Soucek makes sense. The Toffees are scouring the market for a midfielder after parting ways with Abdoulaye Doucoure as a free agent this summer. Additionally, Idrissa Gueye is on the wrong side of 30 and in the twilight of his career.
Several candidates have thus emerged on Everton’s radar, with Soucek also a viable target. David Moyes is keen on reuniting with his former West Ham charge at the Merseyside club, and recent reports have claimed that the player may push for a move to Everton. The Toffees have submitted an enquiry to sign the veteran West Ham midfielder.
However, the Hammers have rebuffed Everton, with the East London outfit uninterested in parting ways with the 30-year-old Czech midfielder in the summer transfer window. While earlier reports suggested West Ham may sell Soucek, that will unlikely transpire this summer.
