Liverpool, Newcastle United ponder Dusan Vlahovic move

Liverpool and Newcastle United are reportedly mulling over signing 25-year-old Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic from Serie A club Juventus in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Liverpool and Newcastle United are interested in Dusan Vlahovic. The two Premier League clubs are keen on reinforcing their offensive units by signing a striker in the final days of the summer transfer window. So, the 25-year-old Juventus centre-forward has emerged as a target for them.

The Serb is prioritising joining a Premier League club this summer, as he feels English outfits can satisfy his €9 million-a-year wage demands. So, while Vlahovic is also a target for AC Milan, the Rossoneri can only afford a deal if he is ready to pocket an annual salary of €6 million.

Dusan Vlahovic and his situation

Dusan Vlahovic has endured a dramatic drop in reputation since joining Juventus from Fiorentina in January 2022. The 25-year-old was among the most exciting strikers in Serie A when he moved to the Allianz Stadium three and a half years ago. However, he has never been consistent during his spell with the Bianconeri.

The Serbian striker improved in the 2024/25 season, contributing to 22 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions by finding the back of the net 17 times and providing five assists. However, Vlahovic faces an uncertain future at Juventus, as they have signed Jonathan David and want to re-sign Randal Kolo Muani. The situation has piqued the attention of several clubs, including Liverpool and Newcastle United.

Premier League adventure on the horizon?

Intermediaries have previously attempted to offer Dusan Vlahovic to Liverpool before a deal failed to materialise. However, the Merseyside club’s interest in the Juventus outcast makes sense, as Hugo Ekitike has been exceptional in his first three outings for Arne Slot’s team. So, while Alexander Isak remains a target for Liverpool, they can do with a backup to Ekitike, making Vlahovic a viable target.

As for Newcastle United, the Magpies are in a spot of bother over Isak’s long-term future amid his links with Liverpool. However, the 2024/25 EFL Cup winners view Vlahovic as a candidate to replace Callum Wilson. So, the 25-year-old Serb is an option worth considering for Newcastle United.

Meanwhile, Vlahovic is prioritising joining a Premier League club this summer, as he feels English outfits can meet his €9 million-a-year wage demands. The Serbian international is also a target for AC Milan, but the Rossoneri can only afford a deal if he is willing to accept an annual salary of €6 million.
