Everton will reportedly look to sign 28-year-old Malian midfielder Yves Bissouma from Tottenham Hotspur in the final days of the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Yves Bissoua is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a holding midfielder before the summer transfer window shuts down. So, the 28-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has emerged as the priority target for the Merseyside outfit.
Pete O’Rourke has told Football Insider that the African midfielder has burnt his bridges at Tottenham after his bouts of indiscipline irked Thomas Frank. The North London outfit will aim to recoup most of the £25 million they paid for him, and Everton will look to take advantage of the situation by securing his services in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Yves Bissouma and his Tottenham travails
Yves Bissouma has failed to be consistent enough since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal worth £25 million in July 2022. While the 28-year-old midfielder has shown flashes of brilliance in the last three years, his tendency to be prone to indiscipline has dealt him a blow, as Thomas Frank has decided the player has no future at the North London club.
The Malian international has turned out 100 times thus far for Tottenham while chipping in with one goal. However, Bissouma has yet to feature this season, and he will likely depart from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the summer transfer window closes. Meanwhile, the situation has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs, with Everton among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Everton’s interest in Yves Bissouma is understandable. The Toffees have been active in the final month of the summer transfer window, with one of their latest signings, Jack Grealish, making his mark this past weekend against Brighton & Hove Albion. However, Everton will aim to sign a versatile midfielder before the summer transfer window shuts down.
Abdoulaye Doucoure left the Merseyside club as a free agent earlier this summer, and Idrissa Gueye is in the twilight of his career. Several candidates, including Dion Lopy, have emerged on Everton’s radar, with Bissouma also a viable target.
Meanwhile, Tottenham will look to recoup most of the £25 million they paid for Bissouma three years ago. With the 28-year-old Malian midfielder having no future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a move across the Premier League may be on the cards.
