Aston Villa will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Spanish international Marc Casado from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by El Pais, as relayed by Sport Witness, Marc Casado is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a holding midfielder in the summer transfer window. So, the 21-year-old Barcelona whizkid has emerged as a target for the West Midlands outfit.
The Villans have submitted a bid worth €30 million, Barcelona’s asking price, to sign the Spaniard. Additionally, Aston Villa will be willing to quadruple Casado’s wages to tempt him to move to Villa Park. However, the youngster’s decision is pending, and it is unclear if he is ready to part ways with Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
Marc Casado and his rapid rise
Marc Casado has established himself as one of the best young prospects in La Liga since breaking into the first-team squad at FC Barcelona. The 21-year-old made his senior bow for Barcelona in November 2022 but had to wait until the 2023/24 season to enjoy his breakthrough at the Catalan club.
The Spanish international has made his mark on Hansi Flick, turning out 36 times across all competitions while chipping in with one goal and six assists. Meanwhile, Casado’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with the Barcelona midfielder capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, including Aston Villa. The Blaugrana may cash in on him in the summer transfer window, slapping a price tag of €30 million on him.
Will Casado leave Barcelona?
Aston Villa’s interest in Marc Casado may be perplexing at first glance, but it makes sense. Recent reports have linked Amadou Onana and Youri Tielemans with Saudi Pro League clubs, forcing the West Midlands outfit into the market for a holding midfielder. So, the Barcelona whizkid has emerged as a target for Aston Villa.
The Villans have already submitted a bid worth €30 million to Barcelona, and the proposal meets the Catalan club’s asking price. Aston Villa’s representatives have also contacted the 21-year-old Spaniard, and they are ready to quadruple the youngster’s wages to tempt him to move to Villa Park.
However, Aston Villa will face stiff competition from other Premier League clubs for Casado’s signature, and the report has mentioned Wolverhampton Wanderers as one of the suitors. It will be interesting to see if the Spanish midfielder leaves Barcelona to move to England in the final days of the summer transfer window.
