Fulham will reportedly hand a new contract to 24-year-old Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz if he remains at Craven Cottage beyond the summer transfer window.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Rodrigo Muniz is the subject of interest from Atalanta. The rising Serie A giants are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 24-year-old Fulham centre-forward has emerged as a target for La Dea.
However, Atalanta and Fulham have not found a common ground on the transfer fee, with the West London outfit demanding £40 million to part ways with him. Meanwhile, the Cottagers are ready to hand Muniz a bumper new contract if he remains with the club beyond the summer transfer window. A report by Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness has pointed to Atalanta’s fading hopes of landing the South American attacker.
Rodrigo Muniz and his situation
Rodrigo Muniz has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Fulham from Flamengo in August 2021. The 24-year-old has been a regular for the West London outfit since the 2023/24 season. However, Muniz was behind Raul Jimenez in the pecking order for strikers at Fulham last term, and he could not manage even 1,500 minutes of game time.
That may change in the 2025/26 season, as the Brazilian striker rescued a point for Fulham by scoring off the bench against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend. However, Muniz’s long-term future at Craven Cottage has been uncertain, with widespread reports linking him with Atalanta in the summer transfer window.
Serie A adventure on the horizon?
Atalanta’s interest in Rodrigo Muniz is understandable. The rising Serie A giants are scouring the market for a striker this summer after parting ways with Mateo Retegui in the ongoing transfer window. Additionally, Ademola Lookman faces an uncertain future at the Gewiss Stadium, with the Nigerian international keen on leaving Atalanta.
So, while Nikola Krstovic is on the verge of joining Atalanta, La Dea can do with another striker. Muniz is thus a viable target for the Serie A outfit, with recent reports pointing to the club’s rising optimism. However, Atalanta and Fulham differ on the player’s valuation, with the West London side demanding £40 million to part ways with him.
That may be the reason for Atalanta’s fading hopes of landing the 24-year-old Brazilian striker. Meanwhile, Fulham will aim to tie Muniz to a bumper new contract if he remains at Craven Cottage beyond the summer transfer window.
