Fulham will reportedly look to sign 24-year-old Argentine striker Flaco Lopez from Brazilian club Palmeiras to replace Rodrigo Muniz in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Brazilian outlet Somo Fanaticos, Flaco Lopez is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Rodrigo Muniz’s future. So, the 24-year-old Palmeiras centre-forward has emerged as a target for the West London outfit.
Who is Flaco Lopez?
Jose Manuel Alberto Lopez, better known as Flaco Lopez, has made gradual progress since joining Palmeiras from CA Lanus in July 2022. A native of San Lorenzo, the South American attacker spent his formative years in Argentina, passing through the academies at CA El Progreso (San Lorenzo), CA Saladas, and CA Independiente before graduating from the youth division at CA Lanus.
While the 24-year-old has not been a regular starter for Palmeiras, he has been reasonably productive in the last three years. Lopez has been impressive in the ongoing campaign, amassing 15 goals and four assists in only 1,957 minutes of game time across 40 appearances across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Lopez’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. CF Monterrey recently failed with a bid to sign the Argentine striker, but Fulham will aim to win the battle for his signature in the summer transfer window.
London calling?
Fulham’s interest in Flaco Lopez is understandable. The Cottagers are scouring the market for a striker this summer amid uncertainties surrounding Rodrigo Muniz’s long-term future. While Leeds United will not launch a bid to sign the Brazilian striker, he may join Atalanta in the ongoing transfer window.
Carlos Vinicius has left Fulham this summer, and Raul Jimenez is the only other striker in Marco Silva’s squad. Several candidates, including Mehdi Taremi, have emerged on Fulham’s radar, with Lopez also a viable target.
However, Fulham will face stiff competition from CF Monterrey for the 24-year-old Argentine striker’s signature, with the Mexican outfit failing with a bid worth $12 million to sign him from Brazilian club Palmeiras. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Lopez.
