Fulham and Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing 33-year-old Iranian international Mehdi Taremi from Serie A club Inter Milan in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Fulham and Leeds United are keen on signing Mehdi Taremi. The two Premier League clubs are keen on bolstering their offensive units by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 33-year-old Inter Milan centre-forward has emerged as a target for them.
Meanwhile, the experienced striker is “increasingly inclined towards moving to England” this summer. However, “a final decision between Fulham and Leeds United is pending” after the two Premier League clubs contacted Taremi’s entourage last weekend. The Inter Milan attacker’s verdict should arrive in “the next few days” amid his Premier League desire.
Mehdi Taremi and his Serie A woes
Mehdi Taremi has seen his progress stall since joining Inter Milan in a Bosman move last summer. The 33-year-old arrived at the Serie A club amid hype and fanfare surrounding him after his exceptional campaign with FC Porto, having scored goals for fun for the Portuguese giants.
However, the veteran Iranian striker, who has 53 goals for his national side, has been a backup player for Inter Milan, and he has managed only three goals and nine assists in 43 appearances thus far for the Nerazzurri. However, Taremi’s stock in the market is high, with Fulham and Leeds United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Leeds United’s interest in Mehdi Taremi makes sense. The Whites are scouring the market for a striker amid Patrick Bamford’s non-existent future, with Daniel Farke confirming the Englishman does not feature in his plans for the 2025/26 season. In addition, Mateo Joseph has joined RCD Mallorca on loan this summer. So, Taremi has emerged as a viable target for Leeds United.
As for Fulham, the West London outfit will dip into the market for a striker in the summer transfer window after parting ways with Carlos Vinicius. While Rodrigo Muniz is a long-term option for Fulham, the Cottagers can do with another option amid the Brazilian’s slow progress and Raul Jimenez’s advancing age. So, Taremi is an option worth considering, with the experienced striker deciding between Fulham and Leeds United as his next destination.
Recent reports have claimed that the 33-year-old Iranian international, who has a whopping 53 goals for his nation, is keen on moving to the Premier League in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see where Taremi lands when he leaves Inter Milan in the coming days.
