Tottenham prioritising Eberechi Eze move, Arsenal agree deal

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing 27-year-old English international Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.

According to an update by French journalist Sebastien Vidal, Eberechi Eze is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile playmaker in the summer transfer window. So, the 27-year-old Crystal Palace talisman has emerged as a target for the North London club.

The Englishman has become Tottenham’s priority target, and the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners want to beat Arsenal to his signature. However, Sebastien Vidal has revealed in a separate update that the Gunners have secured an agreement with Crystal Palace over a deal worth £55 million, including an upfront payment of £30 million.

Eberechi Eze and his soaring stock

Eberechi Eze has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League since joining Crystal Palace from Queens Park Rangers in August 2020. While the 27-year-old has struggled with fitness issues throughout his spell with the South London club, he has been a talismanic figure under Roy Hodgson and Oliver Glasner.

The English international enjoyed a solid 2024/25 season, contributing to 25 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions by finding the back of the net 14 times and providing 11 assists. Meanwhile, Eze’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Move across London on the horizon?

Arsenal’s interest in Eberechi Eze makes sense. The Gunners are combing the market for a new playmaker this summer after Martin Odegaard struggled in the 2024/25 season. Additionally, Eze’s versatility makes him an appealing prospect for Mikel Arteta. While recent reports claimed talks between Arsenal and Crystal Palace had stalled, they have struck an agreement over a deal worth £55 million, including an upfront payment of £30 million.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, recent reports have claimed that the Lilywhites are preparing a bid to beat Arsenal to the 27-year-old Englishman’s signature. Tottenham’s interest is understandable, as James Maddison will miss most of the 2024/25 season due to a long-term knee injury. So, Eze is an option worth considering, with Tottenham viewing him as a priority summer target.

Meanwhile, despite Arsenal’s agreement to sign Eze for £55 million, Tottenham will have a window of opportunity, as Crystal Palace will sanction the English playmaker’s sale after they land a replacement. It will be interesting to see if the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners beat their fellow North London club to his signature.
