Tottenham preparing bid to beat Arsenal to Eberechi Eze

Tottenham could prepare an offer to test Crystal Palace’s resolve on Eberechi Eze, and they hope to beat Arsenal for the attacking midfielder.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Tottenham are preparing to make a bid to sign Eberechi Eze. The attacking midfielder has been linked with Arsenal, but Spurs are willing to make an offer to test Crystal Palace’s resolve as they look to replace James Maddison following his injury.

Tottenham are yet to accelerate in their efforts to make this transfer window a success. The signing of Mohammed Kudus looked like a bright start for Spurs, but soon they were held back by Nottingham Forest’s refusal to sell Morgan Gibbs-White.

The idea of pursuing Gibbs-White indicated Thomas Frank’s preference to sign a new attacking midfielder. Earlier, the need for a new attacking midfielder seemed more on the lines of improving their quality in the position, but the potential season-ending ACL injury to James Maddison makes it a necessity.

Tottenham are already chasing Harvey Elliott, and now it appears they could revive their interest in Eberechi Eze. Spurs were linked with the England international last summer, and even earlier in this current window. However, for the last many weeks, Arsenal have made Eze their top target and dominated most headlines about the Crystal Palace star.

Arsenal’s pursuit of the midfielder has stalled as things stand, but that is not to say they will not revive it. All fingers point to the Gunners making their move once they can finalise a few sales, as Mikel Arteta’s side could launch a €60 million deal after the sale of Fabio Vieira and other unwanted players.

Tottenham to launch Eberechi Eze bid

Eze himself is eager to join Arsenal, but the inactivity from Arteta’s side in the pursuit could potentially open the doors for Spurs to make their move. Tottenham are now prepared to make a bid to test Crystal Palace’s resolve, who are demanding at least €65 million for the attacking midfielder, which may be less than the release clause written in his current deal.

Tottenham may test the waters with a bid for the €65 million-rated Englishman, although they might have to push for a hard conviction on the player’s side to get a deal over the line. Eberechi Eze is widely expected to wait on what Arsenal plan to do with their pursuit, and should Spurs make a bid, it might probably come after getting assurances from the player’s camp.
