Everton, Leeds United vying for James Justin

Everton in six-way battle to sign Mohamed Diomande.

Everton and Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing 27-year-old English full-back James Justin from Leicester City in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Everton and Leeds United are keen on James Justin. The two Premier League clubs are keen on reinforcing their defensive units by signing a right-back in the summer transfer window. So, the 27-year-old Leicester City wide player has emerged as a target for the duo, with the relegated outfit demanding around £6 million to part ways with him.

James Justin and his career so far

James Justin has been a dependable performer since joining Leicester City from Luton Town in July 2019. A native of Luton, the Englishman spent his entire youth career in his hometown, joining Luton Town as a seven-year-old in 2005 before rising through the ranks at the lower-league club and graduating from the academy.

However, the 27-year-old has risen in prominence during his spell with Leicester City, coming leaps and bounds in the last half a dozen years. Justin has turned out over 150 times thus far for the EFL Championship outfit while chipping in with 11 goals and 10 assists.

However, Justin faces an uncertain future at Leicester City after entering the final 12 months of his contract. The situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen on signing the English full-back, with Everton and Leeds United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Premier League return on the horizon?

Everton’s interest in James Justin is understandable. The Toffees are scouring the market for a right-back this summer after allowing Ashley Young to leave as a free agent. In addition, Seamus Coleman is in the twilight of his career, and Nathan Patterson has yet to make his mark enough to be the first-choice right-back for Everton. Several candidates, including Juanlu Sanchez, have emerged on the Merseyside outfit’s radar, with Justin also a viable target.

As for Leeds United, the Whites have been busy in the market to prepare for the daunting task of remaining in the Premier League beyond the 2025/26 season. So, Justin is an option worth considering for the newly promoted Premier League club. Meanwhile, the Englishman will not cost a bomb, considering he has entered the final year of his contract with Leicester City.

The EFL Championship outfit will demand around £6 million to part ways with Justin. It will be interesting to see if the 27-year-old English full-back returns to the Premier League in a deal worth around £6 million in the summer transfer window amid his links with Everton and Leeds United.
