Darwin Nunez ready to snub Al-Hilal move, wants European stay

Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal have suffered a massive blow in their pursuit of Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez.

Darwin Nunez’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain. The Uruguayan international has gone down the pecking order under Arne Slot, and he seems keen on a move away. Al-Hilal are keen on acquiring his services, but according to a report from Fichajes, the South American star is ready to snub the Saudi Pro League giants as he wants to continue in Europe.

Nunez made quite a name for himself while playing for SL Benfica. On the back of his sensational rise in Portugal, the Merseyside outfit forked out a fortune and acquired his services in the summer of 2022.

While the 26-year-old was an integral part of their first team under Jurgen Klopp, a lot has changed since the arrival of Arne Slot last summer. Nunez has gone down the pecking order, as the Dutch manager is not impressed with his overall output.

Last season, the player was involved in a total of 47 matches but racked up just over 2,000 minutes, and he contributed towards 14 goals. While he still has three years left on his deal, the Uruguayan international has been considering his options.

Nunez wants a prominent role, and that seems unlikely at Liverpool given the number of attacking signings they have made. While the Reds are not actively pushing to offload him, they won’t stand in his way if the right offer arrives.

Nunez is not keen on joining Al-Hilal

There has been a significant amount of interest in him from the Middle East. Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal are quite keen on signing him. They want more quality in the final third and are eager to bring in a world-class forward who will not only bolster their offensive unit but also bring in a lot of media attention.

The club’s sporting directors see the South American star as a top-level reinforcement for their project. So, Al-Hilal are willing to make a significant financial effort to get a deal over the line. However, a move seems unlikely as Nunez is not keen on leaving Europe at this stage of his career.

The 26-year-old Uruguayan international is ready to snub Al-Hilal, as he wants to continue at the highest level. While Nunez continues to train with Liverpool, his future is still uncertain, and it will be interesting to see if a European club is willing to pay a significant fee to sign him ahead of the new season. Recent reports have linked him with Juventus.
