West Ham United preparing €10-12 million bid to sign John Victor

West Ham United are pushing to get a deal in place for Botafogo’s impressive goalkeeper John Victor and are ready to spend €10-12 million.

According to Andre Hernan on YouTube, West Ham United are preparing an improved bid worth €10-12 million to sign John Victor. The highly-rated Brazilian goalkeeper has garnered many suitors from England following his impressive performances for Botafogo, with the Hammers now pushing to get a deal done.

John Victor has made his mark with some impressive performances in the Club World Cup with Botafogo during the summer. He is in and around the Brazilian national team squad’s thinking, and would like to keep pushing to get on the plane for the World Cup.

Apart from the displays at the Club World Cup, Victor has made 33 appearances for Botfogo this season, conceding only 26 goals during that period. Manchester United and Aston Villa were keen earlier owing to their goalkeeping situations, while West Ham United are the most serious club for the 29-year-old goalkeeper.

The Hammers have already failed with a bid for John Victor, having offered a reported €8 million for the Brazilian. With the goalkeeper’s stocks rising with his performances and importance for Botafogo, he is eager to make the step up to an English side, and at the moment, West Ham are the most serious candidates.

The Hammers are preparing an improved bid for the 29-year-old goalkeeper, with Andre Hernan insisting they are ready to offer €10-12 million to test Botafogo’s resolve. As for John, he may not push for a move as things stand, as continuing with his current squad could eventually land him a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad next year.

John Victor price clarification

Earlier in the summer, when Manchester United were keen, reports stated Victor had a modest release clause. However, the sums offered by West Ham in their initial bid are considerably higher than what was previously reported.

With the Hammers expected to go much higher than their previous offer suggests the release clause may have been taken out or expired after a deadline of sorts. Now, whether the Hammers are successful in prising the keeper away remains the question, as the Londoners certainly are in front of the queue for the 29-year-old goalkeeper at the moment.
