Rasmus Hojlund could leave Manchester United if Benjamin Sesko joins

Rasmus Hojlund could part ways with Manchester United if they go ahead with the signing of RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko.

According to Graeme Bailey via TBR, Rasmus Hojlund’s future at Manchester United is once again up in the air as the Red Devils are still in the market for a new number nine.

They are interested in acquiring the services of RB Leipzig mainstay Benjamin Sesko. If they do end up signing the Slovenian international, Hojlund could end up leaving Old Trafford.

Bailey’s take on Hojlund’s future

While speaking to TBR, Bailey said: “Rasmus Hojlund knows he is not wanted by Man United as first choice, he knows they have been talking to strikers all summer – let’s not forget they were trying for Liam Delap in early July. Now it is Benjamin Sesko.

“United have not directly told him he can leave, and vice-versa, Hojlund has not demanded to leave – but I am told they have talked and he knows where he stands. If Sesko or another new number nine arrives, Hojlund is likely to leave.”

United forked out a massive £72 million to sign the Danish striker in the summer of 2023. They had massive expectations from the former Atalanta sensation, but the move hasn’t really worked out. While he is only 22 and can certainly turn things around, Hojlund could be shown the exit door in the near future.

The Red Devils are not actively looking to offload him, and they haven’t told him to look for a new club. However, they seem to have held a talk with the young striker about his position in the team. He is aware that United no longer consider him an undisputed starter.

Sesko’s arrival could end Hojlund’s stay in Manchester

They have been in the market for a new striker since the start of the summer. Initially, they wanted to sign Liam Delap but are now working on a deal to sign Benjamin Sesko, who is on the wishlist of multiple top clubs from across Europe.

The Red Devils believe the Slovenian striker could significantly bolster their attack. Given his track record at Leipzig, he could prove to be a very valuable acquisition for both the short and the long run. However, his arrival will certainly have an effect on the future of Hojlund.

The 22-year-old will most likely look to leave, and even United might end up cashing in on him to make room for Sesko in the squad and on their wage bill. With the Red Devils’ pursuit of the Leipzig star heating up, intermediaries have once again touched base with several clubs about Hojlund potentially leaving Old Trafford.
