Manchester United flop Jadon Sancho is reportedly willing to pocket half of his €16 million-a-year wages to return to Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by German outlet BILD, Jadon Sancho is the subject of interest from Borussia Dortmund. The Bundesliga giants are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 25-year-old Manchester United flop has emerged as a target for Die Schwarzgelben.
However, the Englishman’s €16 million-a-year wages pose a problem for Borussia Dortmund, although he is ready to take a 50 per cent pay cut to secure a return to Signal Iduna Park in the summer transfer window. Sancho “knows that his next move has to be a good one and that he can’t afford another career setback.” So, a return to the Bundesliga may be on the cards.
Jadon Sancho and his desire to end his Manchester United misery
Jadon Sancho has been a colossal waste of money since joining Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in July 2021. While the 25-year-old showed flashes of brilliance in his first few seasons with the Premier League club, it all came crashing down after a bust-up with Erik ten Hag. So, he has not played for Manchester United for nearly two years while spending the last 18 months on loan at Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.
The English international showed had some bright moments in the 2024/25 season, but he could not convince Chelsea to seal a permanent deal this summer. Sancho managed only five goals and ten assists in 41 appearances across all competitions, and he has returned to Manchester United. However, his stock in the market remains high, with Borussia Dortmund among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Bundesliga return on the horizon?
The Borussia Dortmund links make sense for Jadon Sancho. The Manchester United flop showed flashes of brilliance during his short loan spell with the Bundesliga giants. In addition, his stock skyrocketed during his first spell with the Black and Yellows, with the player breaking several records.
So, Sancho is a viable target for Borussia Dortmund, and he can be Jamie Gittens’s replacement after the Englishman joined Chelsea earlier this summer. While Sancho’s €16 million-a-year wages pose a problem for Borussia Dortmund, he is ready to take a 50 per cent pay cut to ensure he returns to Signal Iduna Park in the summer transfer window.
In addition, the 25-year-old English international “knows that his next move has to be a good one and that he can’t afford another career setback.” So, a return to Borussia Dortmund may be on the cards, even though widespread reports have heavily linked him with Juventus.
