Manchester United could offer Rasmus Hojlund in a potential deal for key striker target Benjamin Sesko in the coming period.
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United could explore the idea of offering Rasmus Hojlund in a deal for Benjamin Sesko. Ruben Amorim might prefer signing the Slovenian international, and as the club could potentially offer their Danish prospect in a deal to potentially soften RB Leipzig’s asking price.
Manchester United are keen on landing a top-draw striker before the window, with Ruben Amorim unhappy with his current options up front. The Red Devils had earmarked several targets, including Nicolas Jackson and Ollie Watkins earlier, but it appears they are now chasing Benjamin Sesko as the top priority.
Earlier in the window, the Red Devils missed out on other targets such as Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres. However, they appear to have narrowed down Sesko as their priority for this window, as they are already in contact with RB Leipzig over a deal.
Manchester United face competition from Newcastle United for Benjamin Sesko, with the Magpies considering Sesko as a direct replacement for Alexander Isak. The latter’s future is very much up in the air as he angles a move to Liverpool. Should Eddie Howe’s side ramp up their efforts for the Slovenian, the Red Devils might end up losing out on another key target.
Sesko is expected to decide his future soon, although it is Manchester United who are making inroads. The club’s current director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, worked with both of Sesko’s previous clubs, RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg, as he holds excellent relations with the former, and continues to push to get the Slovenian to Old Trafford.
Manchester United could offer Rasmus Hojlund for Benjamin Sesko
Manchester United are now considering offering Rasmus Hojlund in exchange for Sesko. The Danish striker has failed to justify his massive £72 million price tag the club paid two years ago. Hence, the club could include the prospect in a deal for the Slovenian, which could potentially soften the massive price point of around £60-70 million that Leipzig want for their striker.
David Ornstien has reported that Leipzig wants a similar sum as guaranteed fee, with add-ons to be paid separately, as well as being keen on a sell-on clause. That is a massive rate for an unproven 21-year-old striker, with Manchester United keen not to repeat the same mistake they made with signing Hojlund two years ago. It remains to be seen whether Leipzig are receptive to the idea of having the misfiring Dane in a deal for Sesko.
