West Ham United preparing official bid to sign Roberto Piccoli

West Ham United will reportedly look to sign 24-year-old Italian striker Roberto Piccoli from Serie A club Genoa in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Roberto Piccoli is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 24-year-old Cagliari centre-forward has emerged as a target for the East London club.

The Hammers are ready to intensify their efforts to sign the Bergamo native, as they are preparing an official bid to secure his services in the summer transfer window. Cagliari will demand around €30 million to part ways with Piccoli, with SL Benfica and Serie A rival Fiorentina also vying for his signature.

Who is Roberto Piccoli?

Roberto Piccoli is the latest striker to rise in prominence in Serie A. The Bergamo native spent his formative years in his hometown, rising through the ranks at Atalanta BC before graduating from the club’s youth division. However, La Dea sent the 24-year-old on over half a dozen loan spells before he landed on his feet at Cagliari Calcio.

The Isolani initially signed the Italian striker on loan last summer before completing a permanent deal earlier this month. Piccoli has turned out nearly 50 times thus far for Cagliari while chipping in with 11 goals and four assists. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. West Ham United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

London calling?

West Ham United’s interest in Roberto Piccoli is understandable. The Hammers are scouring the market for a striker this summer after Niclas Fullkrug and Evan Ferguson failed to make their mark in the 2024/25 season. The former remains at the London Stadium, but the latter has joined AS Roma from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer.

Several candidates have emerged on West Ham’s radar, and recent reports have claimed that Callum Wilson is closing in on completing a Bosman move to the East London club. However, Piccoli is also a viable target, as the Cagliari striker can be a long-term solution in the final third for West Ham. The Serie A club will demand around €30 million to part ways with the 24-year-old.

Meanwhile, West Ham will soon present a formal bid to secure Piccoli’s services in the summer transfer window. However, the East London club will face stiff competition from SL Benfica and Fiorentina for the €30 million-rated Italian striker.
