West Ham United will reportedly look to sign 25-year-old Colombian midfielder Nelson Deossa from CF Monterrey in the summer transfer window.
According to an update by reputed Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra, Nelson Deossa is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a midfielder in the summer transfer window. So, the 25-year-old CF Monterrey midfielder has emerged as a target for the East London outfit.
However, West Ham will not be alone in the battle for the South American midfielder’s signature, with Nottingham Forest, AS Roma, Real Betis, and Palmeiras also keen on securing his services. Deossa’s agent Cesar Tobon “is in Mexico analysing the matter”.
Who is Nelson Deossa?
Nelson Deossa has made considerable progress since joining CF Monterrey from CF Pachuca earlier this year in January 2025. A native of Marmato, the 25-year-old midfielder spent his formative years in his homeland and graduated from the youth division at Atletico Huila. However, he has risen in prominence since moving to Mexico 18 months ago.
The Colombian midfielder has turned out 29 times thus far for CF Monterrey while chipping in with seven goals and one assist. Deossa was also impressive during the FIFA Club World Cup, scoring once in four outings. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe, including West Ham United.
London calling?
West Ham United’s interest in Nelson Deossa is understandable. The Hammers are scouring the market for a midfielder this summer after Carlos Soler failed to make his mark during his loan stint in the 2024/25 season. In addition, Guido Rodriguez, Tomas Soucek, and James Ward-Prowse face an uncertain future at West Ham.
Several candidates, including Douglas Luiz, have emerged on West Ham’s radar, with Deossa also a viable target for the East London club. However, the Hammers are not alone in the battle for the South American midfielder’s signature in the summer transfer window.
Nottingham Forest, AS Roma, Real Betis, and Palmeiras are also interested in signing the 25-year-old Colombian midfielder. Meanwhile, Deossa’s agent Cesar Tobon “is in Mexico analysing the matter”.
