Juventus increasingly unlikely to sign Yves Bissouma

Serie A giants Juventus are increasingly unlikely to sign 28-year-old Malian international Yves Bissouma from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Yves Bissouma is the subject of interest from Juventus. The Serie A giants are eager to bolster their first-team squad by signing a holding midfielder in the summer transfer window. So, the 28-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has emerged as a target for the Bianconeri.

The African midfielder will likely depart from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window. However, Bissouma is increasingly unlikely to join Juventus, even though he is an affordable target for the Italian club. He is “the furthest away from them all because he would occupy the second and final non-EU slot available”, which Juventus want to use on Nahuel Molina.

Yves Bissouma and his Tottenham travails

Yves Bissouma has not been consistent enough since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Brighton & Hove Albion in July 2022. While the 28-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance in the last three years, he has blown hot and cold throughout his stint with the North London outfit, compelling them to seek a summer departure.

The 41-cap Malian international has turned out 100 times thus far for Tottenham while chipping in with one goal. However, Bissouma faces an uncertain future at the North London club, as they are ready to cash in on him in the summer transfer window. The situation has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, with Juventus among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Serie A move beckons?

Juventus’s interest in Yves Bissouma makes sense. The Serie A giants are combing the market for a dynamic midfielder this summer amid uncertainties surrounding Douglas Luiz’s long-term situation. The Italian heavyweights are ready to part ways with the underperforming Brazilian international, and the relationship between the two parties has broken down after he failed to turn up for the first day of pre-season training.

Meanwhile, several candidates, including Sander Berge, are on Juventus’s radar, with Bissouma also emerging as a viable target. However, the Serie A club may not sign the former Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder, even though he is an affordable option. Bissouma “would occupy the second and final non-EU slot”, which the Bianconeri would prefer to use on Nahuel Molina.

So, while the 41-cap Malian international is open to joining Juventus, a summer move will unlikely see the light of day. However, the Serie A giants do not have a shortage of options on their wishlist, as they are also keen on signing Morten Hjulmand, Sander Berge, Sofyan Amrabat, and Florentino Luis.
