Jakub Kiwior expected to leave Arsenal this summer

Jakub Kiwior could be expected to leave Arsenal in the latter stages of the transfer window after Gabriel Magalhaes returned to fitness.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Jakub Kiwior could leave Arsenal before the transfer window ends this summer, as the defender could be deemed surplus to requirements. The Polish centre-back is seen as a backup option in his position, and with Gabriel Magalhaes regaining full fitness, he could fall further down the pecking order.

Jakub Kiwior’s versatility has been key to Arsenal’s success in the two-and-a-half years the Polish defender has been at the club. Since arriving in a €20 million deal from Spezia in January of 2023, Mikel Arteta has utilised Kiwior centrally and at left-back, with the 2023/24 season being his best in an Arsenal shirt.

Kiwior is not seen as someone to start games regularly, although he broke that notion in the latter part of last season when he was able to deputise for the injured Gabriel Magalhaes. The Polish utility man was brilliant alongside William Saliba in games against Real Madrid as well as PSG in the Champions League.

With Gabriel now regaining full fitness, there is an argument that Arsenal might gauge the market to consider opportunities to sell Jakub Kiwior. The Gunners had wanted €35 million or more as per reports in May, and whether they want more out of a sale now remains to be seen.

Clubs from Serie A had previously shown big interest, including AC Milan, Juventus and Inter Milan. However, the links surrounding the €20 million Arsenal utility man had gone quiet over the last many weeks, although there might be a flurry of activity surrounding some players at the North London side in terms of outgoings.

Will Arsenal sell Jakub Kiwior?

There were even talks around offering a new deal to Kiwior in May, but rumours around that or an exit have dried up in the period since. Arsenal realistically can sell the Pole for a good enough offer, although Arteta might continue to view the Pole as an integral part of his squad ahead of the new season.

With Jakub Kiwior in the squad, Arsenal probably have the best defensive depth across the league, and losing him might see the club sign a replacement. Their priority target earlier was Jorrel Hato, and with the Ajax star now closing in on a move to Chelsea, the Gunners might end up keeping Kiwior, who has shown he can deputise well in times of need.
