Everton are reportedly pushing the hardest to get a deal in place for unwanted Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz, who is keen on a Premier League return.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Douglas Luiz may have plenty of options from the Premier League, although it is Everton who are pushing the hardest to sign the Brazilian. Juventus are open to a departure, with the Toffees already in talks with their Italian counterparts over a loan deal with a buy option.
Everton have not had the busiest of summers, but it could get hectic in the weeks ahead as David Moyes looks for options that will improve his side. The Scottish manager has already overseen a few departures as well as arrivals, but there is plenty of work to be done to add quality to the squad.
A central midfielder is high on Moyes’s agenda, and Everton are trying to get a deal done for Douglas Luiz. The Brazilian is not seen as integral to Juventus’s plans, following his €50 million move from Aston Villa last summer. The latter sold the key midfielder following PSR concerns, and his time in Turin has not gone to plan.
Douglas Luiz is eager to play in the Premier League, and he does have plenty of interest coming in from English sides. Tottenham are seen as one of the suitors as Thomas Frank looks to shape his squad, especially the midfield setup, as the Brazilian’s experience might be seen as key to their chase of the €50 million Juventus flop.
West Ham were also keen for some time, although it appears Luiz is unlikely to join the East Londoners ahead of the summer. Aston Villa have already ruled out a potential return for the Brazilian, and as things stand, Everton could be a realistic option.
Everton talks underway for Douglas Luiz
Everton are reportedly pushing the hardest among other suitors for the €50 million Juventus flop, as talks are underway with Juventus over a deal. The Toffees are helped by their ownership, the Friedkin Group, to accelerate in conversations with the Bianconeri as they have big connections over in Italy.
The report states that the Toffees are angling for a loan deal for Douglas Luiz with a buy option at the end of it, something Juventus are yet to respond to. Initial reports stated the Serie A giants would like to sell the Brazilian this summer, but if Everton’s offer comes is convincing enough, then the Turin side might consider an exit, even on loan.
