Tottenham are frustrated with the delay in the Morgan Gibbs-White chase, with the player intent on joining Thomas Frank’s side.
According to Give Me Sport, Tottenham are infuriated by Nottingham Forest’s roadblocks in signing key target Morgan Gibbs-White. The attacking midfielder is sold on the idea put forward by new Spurs boss Thomas Frank, as he is intent on joining the north Londoners this summer.
The Morgan Gibbs-White saga has gone quiet after the debacle surrounding the transfer a few weeks ago. The attacking midfielder was instrumental for Nottingham Forest last season, as his seven goals and ten assists helped Nuno Espirito Santo’s side qualify for the Europa League.
Nottingham Forest are a club with ambitions, and having already lost Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United, they have not been keen on losing another. Tottenham agreed a deal for Gibbs-White by triggering a reported £60 million release clause in his contract.
However, their move was dealt a blow as Nottingham Forest opened legal proceedings, accusing Spurs of illegally tapping up Morgan Gibbs-White. Their claim centred around the fact that the information on the reported £60 million release clause was only privileged to the club, the player and his agent.
Hence, with the move entering the legal sphere, Spurs are growing frustrated by the delay and remain infuriated with Nottingham Forest for the roadblocks. Thomas Frank, the new Tottenham manager, was keen to land the English playmaker earlier than expected, and wanted him part of the squad for their pre-season tour following the arrival of Mohammed Kudus.
Morgan Gibbs-White is keen to join Tottenham
Gibbs-White is keen to join Tottenham despite interest from elsewhere, and that is another point that Spurs are angry about. Manchester City had an interest earlier, but they have since made moves for other players of a similar profile. Pep Guardiola’s side remains keen, with the report stating that Forest are eager to push the Englishman towards the Manchester side rather than Spurs.
However, Morgan Gibbs-White is eager to join Spurs, as he was sold on the ideas put forward by Frank in the build-up to the transfer. Tottenham were expected to make a fresh offer, which may see them paying more than the £60 million they were willing to fork out earlier. If the offer meets Forest’s valuation, a deal could be done, as the upcoming period could even see the player push for a move.
