Alexander Isak informs Newcastle United he wants out, willing to join Liverpool

Liverpool have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Alexander Isak, as the Newcastle United star has put in a transfer request.

According to Alex Crook, Alexander Isak has informed Newcastle United that he wants to part ways with them this summer, amidst interest from rivals Liverpool. The Swedish international is open to a move to the Merseyside club, and they remain keen on his signature despite having signed Hugo Ekitike.

Isak hasn’t looked back since joining the Magpies in the summer. Not only has he established himself as one of their mainstays, but he is also widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world. Last season, the 25-year-old forward contributed towards 33 goals (27 goals, 6 assists) in his 42 outings.

His exceptional performances in the final third have put him on the radar of Liverpool and Al-Hilal. The Saudi Pro League giants are reportedly ready to submit an offer in excess of £130 million to prise him away from Newcastle.

Isak is not interested in signing a new deal at the Tyneside club, and he is ready to assess his options with his current deal running out in 2028. While Newcastle are reluctant to sell, they might not have too many options to play with following the player’s decision to push for a move away.

Isak wants to join the Merseyside club

While Al-Hilal are keen on his signature, a move to the Middle East at this stage of his career seems unlikely. However, a report from TEAMtalk suggests he would be more than willing to make the switch to Anfield.

Liverpool have been quite busy this summer as they have already spent close to £300 million to revamp Arne Slot’s squad following their Premier League triumph. They have been in the market for a new striker since the start.

Isak was their top priority at the start, and they did knock on Newcastle’s door. But with them not ready to sell, they shifted their focus towards Hugo Ekitike, and after long-drawn negotiations, they secured his services in a deal worth £79 million.

Liverpool remain keen on signing Isak

Despite having signed a top striker, they still remain keen on Isak’s signature and would pounce on any opportunity to bring him to the club. With the player himself willing to make the move, the Reds have received a massive boost.

Isak is frustrated by Newcastle’s transfer business. He is not sure if they can compete for major titles next summer; as a result, he is pushing for an exit. His absence from their pre-season tour in Singapore has certainly raised a few eyebrows even though official reports suggest it’s because of a minor thigh injury.

Having already spent a fortune on player transfers, Liverpool are hoping they can finance a potential deal which will exceed £130 million by offloading Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott.
