Nottingham Forest rival West Ham United in Marcus Tavernier race

Nottingham Forest will compete with fellow Premier League club West Ham United to sign 26-year-old Bournemouth winger Marcus Tavernier in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Marcus Tavernier is the subject of interest from Nottingham Forest. The high-flying Premier League club will aim to reinforce the offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window after parting ways with Anthony Elanga. So, the 26-year-old Bournemouth wide player has emerged as a target for the Tricky Trees.

However, the Premier League high-flyers are not alone in the battle for his signature, with West Ham United also vying for his services in the summer transfer window. In addition, Fenerbahce will compete with the two Premier League clubs, with Jose Mourinho an admirer of Tavernier’s qualities.

Marcus Tavernier and his Premier League journey so far

Marcus Tavernier has made considerable progress since joining Bournemouth from Middlesbrough in August 2022. The Leeds native spent his formative years in England, starting his youth career at Newcastle United before joining the academy at Middlesbrough FC in 2013. However, he has risen in prominence in the last three years.

The 26-year-old has not been an undisputed first-choice starter for Bournemouth but has been an asset due to his versatility. Tavernier has turned out nearly 100 times thus far for the Cherries while chipping in with 12 goals and 14 assists. Meanwhile, his progress has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs, including Nottingham Forest and West Ham United.

What next?

Nottingham Forest’s interest in Marcus Tavernier is understandable. The Tricky Trees are scouring the market for a wide attacker after selling Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United. Several options, including Malick Fofana, have emerged on the high-flying Premier League club’s radar, with Tavernier also a viable target.

As for West Ham United, Mohammed Kudus has joined Tottenham Hotspur this summer, while Jarrod Bowen may continue playing as a striker next season if the Hammers do not sign a new centre-forward. So, West Ham must sign a wide attacker, with Tavernier an option worth considering.

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old Bournemouth winger is also a target for Fenerbahce, with Jose Mourinho an admirer of his qualities. However, with the Premier League club losing several pivotal figures, it will be interesting to see if they are ready to part ways with Tavernier.
