Manchester United will reportedly look to sign 24-year-old Senegalese international Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Nicolas Jackson is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the versatile 24-year-old Chelsea attacker has emerged as a target.
However, the struggling Premier League giants want to sign the African attacker “for the right price” amid Chelsea’s desire to recoup £80 million from his sale. Meanwhile, a report by TEAMtalk has suggested that a swap deal involving Alejandro Garnacho may be on the cards, as the two clubs’ interest in the players may lead to a mutually beneficial agreement.
Nicolas Jackson and his Chelsea career so far
Nicolas Jackson has been a promising but frustrating asset since joining Chelsea from Villarreal in July 2023. While the player’s wastefulness in front of the goal has left much to be desired, he has been a well-rounded player with his ability to create chances for his teammates and himself. In addition, the 24-year-old has made a mark with his work rate.
The Senegalese international has turned out nearly 100 times thus far for Chelsea while chipping in with 30 goals and 12 assists. However, Jackson’s long-term future is uncertain after the West London club signed Liam Delap and Joao Pedro earlier this summer. So, an exit may be on the cards, with Manchester United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Manchester United’s interest in Nicolas Jackson makes sense. The Red Devils are combing the market for a striker this summer after Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggled to score enough goals last season. While Jackson’s wastefulness could become an issue, his all-round play and penchant for finding pockets of space in and around the box should make him a viable target.
The struggling Premier League giants have already been in contact with Jackson’s entourage to discuss a possible move in the summer transfer window. However, recent reports have claimed that the former Villarreal forward will not come cheap in the summer transfer window, with Chelsea demanding £80 million to part ways with him.
The Senegalese international, who has grown frustrated at Chelsea, reportedly wants to join a Premier League club. However, Manchester United will only launch the offensive to secure his services for the “right price”, and a swap deal involving Alejandro Garnacho may also be on the cards. With Chelsea keen on signing the Argentine international, a mutually beneficial arrangement may be on the cards for the Blues and Manchester United.
