Newcastle United, West Ham United line up Rayan Vitor Simplico move.

Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have been keen on signing 24-year-old Ivory Coast international Evann Guessand from Ligue 1 club OGC Nice this summer.

According to a report by Africa Foot, Evann Guessand is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies are eager to reinforce their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 24-year-old OGC Nice forward has emerged as a target for the Tyneside outfit.

The 2024/25 EFL Cup winners have approached Guessand’s entourage over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Ajaccio native is also a target for Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, the talks with the North London outfit have slowed down, giving Newcastle United a window of opportunity to seal a summer deal.

Evann Guessand and his career so far

Evann Guessand has made considerable progress since breaking into the first-team squad at OGC Nice. The French-born attacker spent his formative years in France and made his senior bow at the Ligue 1 club in January 2020. Since then, the player has come leaps and bounds, and he enjoyed an exceptional 2024/25 campaign.

Guessand contributed to 23 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions by finding the back of the net 13 times and providing 10 assists. Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs with his progress. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen, with Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Premier League adventure beckons?

Newcastle United’s interest in Evann Guessand makes sense. The Magpies have already bolstered their attack by signing Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest. However, Callum Wilson’s exit as a free agent means Newcastle United can do with a versatile attacker. So, Guessand has emerged as a viable target for the Tyneside outfit, and they have contacted his entourage.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, Richarlison and Son Heung-min face an uncertain future at the North London club. In addition, Timo Werner has departed from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after a horrendous loan spell. So, Guessand is an option worth considering, although the Lilywhites have slowed down in their talks to sign the Ajaccio native in the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international is keen on moving to the Premier League. So, with Tottenham’s talks slowing down, Newcastle United may have the opportunity to win the battle for Guessand’s signature.
