Liverpool initiate move to beat Arsenal to Rodrygo Goes deal

Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing 24-year-old Brazilian international Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Rodrygo Goes is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Premier League champions are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 24-year-old Real Madrid attacker has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.

The Reds have already initiated discussions with the South American attacker’s entourage as they look to secure his services in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Real Madrid forward is also a target for Arsenal, with Andrea Berta pushing for his signature.

Rodrygo Goes and his Real Madrid rollercoaster

Rodrygo Goes has been one of the most promising attackers in La Liga since joining Real Madrid from Santos in a big-money deal in July 2019. While the South American attacker has not been as consistent as he would have liked, he has shown flashes of his potential and brilliance. However, the player has reached a crossroads in his career after barely featuring for Los Blancos during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

The 24-year-old has turned out over 250 times thus far for Real Madrid while chipping in with 68 goals and 51 assists. However, the former Santos prodigy faces an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu, with the situation capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Arsenal and Liverpool are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Arsenal’s interest in Rodrygo Goes makes sense. While the Gunners have signed Noni Madueke from Chelsea, Mikel Arteta wants more firepower from the offensive unit amid the growing over-dependence on Bukayo Saka in the final third. So, the Real Madrid attacker is an option worth considering for Arsenal.

As for Liverpool, the Reds are reportedly ready to go all out to sign the 24-year-old versatile attacker from Real Madrid. The interest is understandable, considering Luis Diaz faces an uncertain future at Anfield amid his links with Barcelona and Bayern Munich. So, it is hardly surprising that the Premier League champions have held talks with his entourage.

While an agreement over a possible summer deal is not close, Liverpool’s decision to initiate the move may put Arsenal under pressure. It will be interesting to see how this story progresses amid uncertainties surrounding the 24-year-old Brazilian attacker’s future at Real Madrid.
