Leeds United are set to miss out on another one of their top targets in attacker Evann Guessand, with Saudi side Neom FC closing in on the OGC Nice star.
According to Sebastien Vidal, Leeds United are on the verge of missing out on another crucial target in this window. This time around, it is OGC Nice attacker Evann Guessand with the prolific front man now leaning towards a move to Saudi Arabian side Neom FC.
Daniel Farke and his side, Leeds United, had some key transfers to get done. They have done a good job so far in getting players into the team, but they have also faced plenty of failures in attempts to sign some specific targets.
Farke wants to bring players that improve his attacking setup, as some fundamental changes are being made to their front line. For instance, Patrick Bamford will leave, while they have already signed Lukas Nmecha on a free transfer.
Furthermore, they have missed out on key attacking target Igor Paixao from Feyenoord, with the Brazilian opting to join Marseille instead. Losing out on the winger was a big blow for Leeds United, who are not set to miss out on another key target in Evann Guessand.
The Ivory Coast international had a hand in 27 goals last season for OGC Nice, and many clubs are keen on signing him. He could have had many options across the top five European Leagues, with more clubs, including Leeds United, who pondered making a bid for the attacker.
Leeds United miss out on Evann Guessand
Leeds United had wanted more presence other than Nmecha in their frontline, with Farke keen on Guessand to provide the ammunition. However, they are set to lose out on the attacker, as Saudi Arabian side Neom FC are closing in on the attacker, where former PSG manager Christophe Galtier is pushing to get a deal in place.
They have other names like Marc Guiu from Chelsea on their radar, and there might be some more along the way. But missing out on Evann Guessand will be a big blow to Farke’s plans. It remains to be seen who Leeds United will pivot to, as they will need a striker or a goalscoring presence ahead of the new season.
