Liverpool not ruling out double swoop for Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike

Liverpool have been linked with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, and it appears that they are keen on signing Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt as well.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Liverpool are refusing to rule out a double swoop for Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike. It is no secret that they need quality attackers, and they need to replace someone like Darwin Nunez during the summer transfer window if they are serious about winning major trophies again.

The South American scored just seven goals last season, and Liverpool cannot afford to have him leading the line for them. Isak would be an exceptional acquisition. The Swede is undoubtedly the best striker in the Premier League right now, and he was outstanding for Newcastle United last season.

Isak helped the Tyneside outfit win the EFL Cup and secure UEFA Champions League qualification as well. If Liverpool can sign him, it would be an excellent acquisition for them. Similarly, Ekitike did quite well in Germany, and he had 34 goal contributions last term. The Frenchman is a talented player with a bright future, and he could develop into a key player for Liverpool in the long run.

Can Liverpool afford the two players?

The two players will cost a substantial amount of money, and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool can arrange the funds for the two signings. If the Reds manage to get rid of Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz, they should have the funds to sign both players.

Diaz has been linked with a move away from Liverpool as well, with Bayern Munich and Barcelona are interested in securing his signature. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool are prepared to let the Colombian international leave the club. The 28-year-old has been a key player for Liverpool since joining them, but he is inconsistent, and Liverpool will look to bring in an upgrade.

Isak and Ekitike would be long-term acquisitions for the club, and they could transform Liverpool in the attack. Liverpool have been overly dependent on Mohamed Salah for goals and creativity. The Egyptian international needs more support in the attack, and signing the two players could be ideal for Liverpool.
