Manchester United will reportedly hold talks with La Liga club Real Betis over a possible deal for resurgent 25-year-old Brazilian international Antony.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Antony remains the subject of interest from Real Betis. The Andalusian giants are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the resurgent 25-year-old Manchester United winger has emerged as a target for Los Verdiblancos.
Manchester United and Real Betis are on the cusp of holding a new round of talks over a deal for the former Ajax winger this week. Meanwhile, the Red Devils have reduced their asking price to sell the player in the summer transfer window from €50 million to €30-35 million.
Antony and his revival
Antony has revived his fortunes after a successful loan stint with Real Betis in the second half of the 2024/25 season. The 25-year-old winger was dreadful after joining Manchester United from Ajax in a big-money move in August 2022, and his stock gradually descended after he failed to stamp his authority in the final third.
However, the Brazilian international amassed nine goals and five assists in 26 appearances for Real Betis, nearly matching his tally for Manchester United in a fraction of the outings. Meanwhile, the former Ajax winger’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, with Real Betis keen on re-signing him in the summer transfer window.
La Liga return on the horizon?
Real Betis’s interest in Antony is understandable. The Andalusian giants are combing the market for a wide attacker this summer as they aim to compete for a place in the top four in the 2025/26 La Liga season. So, it is hardly surprising that the Manchester United outcast is a target for Los Verdiblancos.
However, Real Betis and Manchester United have yet to finalise an agreement over a deal for the South American winger. While the 2024/25 UEFA Europa Conference League finalists want to seal another loan deal, Manchester United would prefer a permanent departure in the summer transfer window.
So, Real Betis and Manchester United will hope to hash out an agreement in the upcoming round of talks. Meanwhile, the Red Devils have slashed their price from €50 million to €30-35 million. So, it will be interesting to see if Antony returns to the Benito Villamarin Stadium in the summer transfer window.
