Aston Villa looking to sign two players to replace Emiliano Martinez

Aston Villa are eager to revamp their goalkeeping ranks with two new players planned as Emiliano Martinez is expected to leave the club.

According to Football Insider, Aston Villa plans on signing two new goalkeepers as they are set to sell Emiliano Martinez. Second-choice stopper Robin Olsen has also left the club leaving space for a backup keeper at the club, as Unai Emery’s side are set to revamp the ranks between the sticks.

Emiliano Martinez’s impending exit has been the main topic of discussion at Aston Villa in this transfer window. The Argentine World Cup winner’s demeanour in the last home game of the season was a big signal of intent as he waved his goodbyes to the Villa Park crowd.

The Argentine is attracting a lot of interest, including from Saudi Arabia, as Martinez changing his agents last month was a big indication of a change of scenery. Aston Villa are reportedly willing to accept offers in the region of £30 million, as they aim to reinvest to bring in a viable replacement.

However, there’s more space in the goalkeeping ranks as backup stopper Robin Olsen has also left the club. The report states that Aston Villa plans to bring two new keepers once they sell Martinez, as there are some viable candidates for the No.1 position for the time being.

There are no particular names for the secondary keeper position at the moment, as Monchi could get going in this particular search. As for their No.1 search, one of their main targets was Espanyol star Joan Garcia, who now seems closer to joining Barcelona.

Who will be Aston Villa’s new No.1?

Replacing Martinez will require a proper search in terms of quality, as Real Sociedad’s Alex Remeiro is a viable target for Villa. Whether they can make the move remains to be seen, as they are also keen on other names, with LOSC Lille keeper Lucas Chevalier also high on their list.

One of those could emerge as their main target to replace the Argentine, while Villa will also keep their eyes open to sign a backup keeper to their new No.1. Whether they can manage those signings well within the money they receive for Martinez is the question for the moment.
