Liverpool prioritise signing new striker, centre-back and left-back this summer

Liverpool are set to prioritise three key areas during the transfer window as a striker, centre-back and a left-back’s arrivals are planned.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have set three areas of their squad as a priority ahead of the summer as the club plans on bringing players to improve their team. A centre-back, left-back, and striker are on the agenda of the Merseysiders with a host of notable names already linked with moves.

Liverpool may have won the Premier League title, but they have plenty of reasons to stay busy throughout the summer window. Arne Slot completed the big task of notching the league title without any big signings last summer, with Federico Chiesa the only outfield arrival at the club.

In the upcoming summer window, Arne Slot expects the club to back his requests and bring in the right players that help strengthen the squad for another big challenge ahead of next season. The Dutch manager reportedly wants to bring at least a left-back, centre-back and striker on priority, while the club will also look for a new right-back to replace the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Another current first-team star could leave, as Liverpool could sell Darwin Nunez to bring in a new striker. There are links with Alexander Isak, but Newcastle United could price them out of a deal with an exorbitant asking price. Ollie Watkins is another name on their radar, and many others could emerge as the window draws closer.

A new centre-back is on the horizon despite Virgil van Dijk signing a new deal. Dean Huijsen is a player of interest to Liverpool alongside many other top Premier League teams. Ideally, they would like for him to come in as an additional defender, there are some doubts about Ibrahima Konate’s future, as the Frenchman enters the final year of his deal at the club.

Liverpool want a new left-back

For months now, there are big suggestions that Liverpool want to move on from Andy Robertson, either permanently or phase him out. Milos Kerkez appears to be their top target for the role this season, as one of Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas could leave the club in the summer.

Overall, Liverpool are drawing up an ambitious plan to strengthen their squad in the summer. Bringing in a new centre-back, striker, and left-back would certainly do the trick, but they do have other requirements such as a new central midfielder as well as a right-back.
