Liverpool prepared to cash in on Kostas Tsimikas

Arne Slot’s Liverpool are prepared to part ways with backup full-back Kostas Tsimikas in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool have made a decision regarding the future of Kostas Tsimikas. The Merseyside outfit are prepared to move on from the long-serving left-back, and they are open to offers for the Greek international this summer.

Tsimikas came up the ranks at Olympiacos and made a name for himself while playing for their first team before making the move to Anfield in the summer of 2020. Over the years, he has been a reliable cover for Andy Robertson.

The 28-year-old has featured in a total of 114 matches, and he has bagged a total of 18 assists. Kostas Tsimikas has regularly deputised for Robertson in the ongoing season, and he has played a big part in their Premier League triumph. He has featured in a total of 28 matches across competitions while racking up over 1,500 minutes.

Tsimikas to be sold this summer

While Kostas Tsimikas has done a decent job, he is not a part of Arne Slot’s long-term plans. Despite his contract having two years left to run out, the Reds are ready to sanction his departure. Moving him on will help them raise funds and make room for a new left-back.

The Merseyside outfit want to bring in a world-class full-back who can take over as their first choice as Robertson’s influence is waning. Tsimikas is not considered an ideal fit to be their preferred option and since they want the Scottish international to continue at the club, the Reds are ready to listen to offers for the 28-year-old.

Liverpool want someone who can compete with Robertson for a place in the starting XI, and they have identified Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez as an ideal fit for their system. While the Hungarian international is at the top of their wishlist, the Merseyside club are aware that signing him won’t be that straightforward.

Meanwhile, finding a new club for Tsimikas should not be that difficult as he has done a decent job at Anfield over the years, and he certainly has a lot of football left in him.
