Tottenham can secure the services of Tim Kleindienst for €28 million if Borussia Monchengladbach fail to qualify for European football.
According to a report from Bild, Tottenham are interested in acquiring the services of Tim Kleindienst, who could be available for a cut-price fee if Borussia Monchengladbach miss out on European football. The German international is keen on playing at the highest level and he is reportedly ready to take the next step in his career.
Kleindienst joined the German outfit last season and he is certainly having a season to remember even though the club have been quite inconsistent in recent weeks. The 29-year-old striker has been involved in a total of 32 matches this season and has contributed towards 26 goals (16 goals, 10 assists).
His incredible debut campaign for Monchengladbach has helped him break into the German national team. He made his debut towards the end of last year and already has four goals in his six outings.
While the move to the German club has done wonders for him and his contract there runs until the summer of 2028, he could still end up pushing for a move away when the transfer window reopens.
The 29-year-old wants to ensure he makes it into Germany’s squad for the World Cup that will be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. He feels playing European football could have a massive say on whether he makes it or not.
With Monchengladbach currently ninth on the table and only two games to go in the season, they are unlikely to secure any sort of continental football. As a result, manager Roland Virkus could find it very difficult to keep hold of Kleindienst, who has been his most lethal weapon this season.
Tottenham plot a raid on Monchengladbach
He could be available for as little as €28 million and Tottenham are looking to make the most out of it. The North London club are constantly on the lookout for opportunities in the market and they have certainly found one in Kleindienst.
They have a chance to sign a top striker for a cut-price fee and they do not want to miss out on it. While Spurs forked out a massive fee to sign Dominic Solanke last summer, the former Bournemouth star has struggled to stay fit during his debut campaign.
More importantly, with Richarlison and Timo Werner to be on the move, the North London club are in need of more firepower in the final third. Kleindienst could certainly bolster their attack, and a move to Spurs might even boost his chances of being in the German national team at the World Cup.
While Tottenham are unlikely to secure a European spot through the Premier League, they could win the Europa League to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
