Morgan Gibbs-White could reportedly consider his future at Nottingham Forest without Champions League football, as Manchester City and Liverpool circle.
According to TBR, Liverpool and Manchester City could be boosted in their pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White as the midfielder is considering his future at Nottingham Forest. The Midlands side are eager to tie him down to a new deal, but a lack of Champions League football could turn the 25-year-old’s head towards some of his suitors.
The summer window could see a lot of big deals within the Premier League, as Morgan Gibbs-White could be among those making the switch. The 25-year-old Premier League midfielder has had a fantastic season with Nottingham Forest, being one of the key components of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side making it close to Champions League qualifications.
Some losses in recent games have seen Forest drop out of the Champions League places, but they could re-enter the top five with a win over Crystal Palace on Monday night. There’s the confidence they will make it to Europe’s premier competition next season, but without it, there might be serious repercussions such as a few key departures.
Gibbs-White will reportedly consider his future at Forest if they fail to make it to the Champions League next season. He has plenty of suitors already circling with Liverpool one of those keen to sign him. The Merseysiders have long considered the 25-year-old Premier League midfielder as a key transfer target and could be hoping that Forest do not finish in the top five.
Manchester City are the front runners as per the report, with Pep Guardiola viewing the 25-year-old Premier League midfielder as a direct replacement for the departing Kevin De Bruyne. Forest reportedly wants £100 million to sell Gibbs-White, as they view him as similar to the transfer of Jack Grealish when Manchester City were forced to pay a similar fee.
Morgan Gibbs-White to leave Nottingham Forest?
The 25-year-old Premier League midfielder will have two years left on his deal in the summer, as Forest might view this as the best time to cash in. The £100 million asking price may seem justifiable given the importance Gibbs-White has in this team, although their priority is to renew his contract at the City Ground.
However, the club are aware of the big interest from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, with either of those an attractive idea for the player. Hence, for Forest to stand a chance in keeping their best players like Gibbs-White, they must ensure the City Ground has Champions League nights next season.
