Lucas Bergvall on Real Madrid radar, future approach possible

La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly tracking the progress of 19-year-old Swedish wonderkid Lucas Bergvall at Tottenham Hotspur, with a future approach possible.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Lucas Bergvall is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are scouring the market for a midfielder as they look to fill the void that Toni Kroos created from his departure last summer. So, the Tottenham Hotspur wonderkid has emerged as a target for Los Blancos.

The rapid rise of Lucas Bergvall

Lucas Bergvall has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the Premier League since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Djurgardens IF last summer. The North London club beat stiff competition to secure the Swede’s progress, reportedly paying his agents well to seal the deal 12 months ago.

The 19-year-old has benefitted from Tottenham’s injury crisis this season, securing regular game time throughout the 2024/25 campaign. Bergvall has amassed nearly 2,500 minutes of game time across 45 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with one goal and four assists.

Bergvall’s exploits in his debut season have compelled Tottenham Hotspur to tie him to a new deal, with the teenage sensation signing his contract earlier this week. Meanwhile, the Swedish midfield sensation has already broken into his national squad, making four appearances thus far. In addition, the youngster’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid.

A future La Liga move possible?

Real Madrid’s interest in Lucas Bergvall is understandable. Toni Kroos has left a gaping hole at the Santiago Bernabeu after calling time on his illustrious career last summer. The problems will likely worsen when Luka Modric hangs up his boots. With Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurelien Tchouameni not being creative enough, the reigning La Liga champions need an injection of creativity.

So, several candidates, including Nico Paz, are on Real Madrid’s radar, with Bergvall also a viable target. The Merengues are closely monitoring the 19-year-old Swede’s progress at Tottenham Hotspur.

However, a summer move is not on the cards, and Real Madrid will likely track Bergvall’s progress for a few more years before launching the offensive for his signature. So, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the highly-rated Swedish international.
