Manchester United make their move for Franco Mastantuono

Manchester United are among the teams interested in Franco Mastantuono, but they have the ‘most interest’ in the rising midfielder.

According to Sport via Sport Witness, Manchester United are closely monitoring the progress made by Franco Mastantuono ahead of the summer. The Red Devils are among the many teams chasing the Argentine defender, with River Plate adamant the only way for suitors to get the midfielder is by triggering his release clause.

Franco Mastantuono was seen as a big target for many teams ahead of January, while some were making serious enquiries last summer as well. Still only 17, the teenager is already courted by a host of Premier League sides, as well as Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The Spanish duo will be intent on exploring a move, although, unlike other players, many of the Premier League sides appear to have a good enough chance. Real Madrid and Barcelona have spent significantly on youth prodigies from South America, as Mastantuono could be the next player they battle it out for.

Meanwhile, English sides Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are regularly scouting the midfielder as they indeed ponder enquiring about his signature ahead of the summer. The report states that Manchester United have the ‘most interest’ in the teenage midfielder ahead of the summer.

Manchester United are regularly monitoring his progress and are aware that it would take them to trigger Mastantuono’s €45 million release clause to sign him. The Red Devils have reportedly considered paying as much to get the player who they view to have a massive potential for the future.

River Plate to demand €45 million for Franco Mastantuono

River Plate have observed the market for young prodigies with interest and might have seen the figures paid by some of the European and English sides for South American talents. Hence, they are adamant that interested teams in Mastantuono pay up his release clause worth €45 million.

Manchester United certainly hold credible interest, but there will be doubts about whether they have the funds to shell out ahead of such an important window for the senior squad. Hence, there’s a big chance that the Red Devils could miss out on the signing of the €45m-rated Argentine prodigy in the summer, as they might hope to have another year before making the move for financial reasons.
