Tottenham are hopeful of securing the services of Newcastle United and Manchester City target Tyler Dibling for a cut-price fee.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are keen on acquiring the services of Tyler Dibling and believe that they could sign the Southampton sensation for less than half of his asking price. While Newcastle United and Manchester City are also interested in his services, Spurs appear to be the most serious contenders in the race for his signature.
Dibling got promoted to Southampton’s first team last summer, and he has already established himself as a key figure in the team. While the Saints have not had the best of times this season, the 19-year-old has been one of their standout performers.
The youngster has featured in a total of 34 matches across competitions, and he has contributed towards seven goals. While he prefers playing on the right flank, Dibling can also feature as a striker as well as a number ten if needed.
Tottenham front-runners for Tyler Dibling’s signature
His consistent performances for the Saints as well as his massive potential have put him on the wishlist of multiple top clubs. Tottenham seem to be the one who are very keen on signing him. Spurs have prioritised signing young stars of late, and Dibling is seen as an ideal fit for their project.
The Lilywhites are optimistic about getting a deal over the line this summer. While the Saints value him at £100 million, Spurs are confident that they can sign for less than half of that figure. Having already failed with a £35 million bid last winter, the North London club are now ready to step up their pursuit.
Tottenham secured the services of James Maddison for £40 million in 2023 after Leicester City were relegated, and they believe they could sign Dibling for around £45 million plus add-ons as Southampton have already been relegated to the Championship.
Spurs are confident that the Saints won’t be adamant about getting £100 million once they enter formal talks with them. While Tottenham seem to be the front-runners at this stage, Newcastle and Manchester City are also keen on him.
Rival clubs could cause problems for Spurs
The Magpies have a long-standing interest in the Englishman. Former sporting director Dan Ashworth was the one pushing for his signing. Since he is no longer at the club, they do not seem to be that serious at this point and could prioritise the signing of Antoine Semenyo to bolster the flanks.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are also massive admirers of the youngster and could look to make him a part of their project. While Dibling might not have a big role in the initial years, his potential suggests he could become a key figure in the team in the long run.
