Arne Slot’s Liverpool are now in talks to secure the long-term future of Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.
Since the start of the season, the biggest headache for Liverpool was the contract situation of their star trio: Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. While they haven’t succeeded in convincing their English full-back to continue at the club, the Reds have managed to tie down both Salah and van Dijk to new short-term deals.
With the future of two of their mainstays secured, the Merseyside club are now shifting their attention towards other important renewals. According to a report from Football Insider, the Reds are in talks to extend the stay of Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.
Liverpool step up efforts to tie down key trio
All three have been linked with a move away from the club but Liverpool are now looking to hold talks with them to determine their future. Konate seems to be on the wishlist of Real Madrid and PSG. With his contract running out in 2026, the Reds are under a lot of pressure.
Ideally, they would like to extend his stay at the club and are planning with him in mind. However, if they fail to tie him down to a new deal before the start of the summer transfer window, the Reds could look to cash in on him, as he will have just a year remaining on his contract by then.
Diaz and Jota have also attracted a lot of interest from across the globe. The duo seems to be quite high on the wishlist of Saudi Pro League clubs. While the Reds have held talks with both of them, they haven’t had any success.
The initial talks with Diaz failed because their major focus was on renewing Salah and van Dijk’s contract. But they are now looking to once again try to tie him down to a new deal. The Colombian forward’s entourage are pushing for a new lucrative deal and if things don’t go their way, they could push for an exit.
Jota also finds himself in a similar boat after initial talks didn’t reach any conclusions. While the Reds will be in talks with his representatives, they are considering cashing in on him because of his recent injury track record.
